NYC garage rock

I know it is a sucky title for a genre, and what is garage rock anyway? Especially in New York where there are just multi floor parking garages. Well the bands in this category either hail from New York City (or currently reside here), or sound like a great bar band (the kind of bar where the bathroom has an old school relic of an urinal, the floor is always sticky, and it is located in some sort of 'village') - or both.
